CHALLENGE: In the 1970s, the National Trust for Historic Preservation developed its pioneering Main Street approach to commercial district revitalization. The National Trust Main Street Center—a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation—publishes Main Street News, the flagship publication of The National Main Street Network that provides organizations and individuals with relevant and timely information, ideas, strategies, and successes. The publication was in need of a complete redesign that captured the vitality of the Main Street approach while remaining true to the historic aspects of the Trust.

SOLUTION: Each issue is art directed from concept stage to implementation, with close attention paid to photography, illustration, and typography. Because content is time sensitive, rigorous deadlines are kept to ensure edits, photo retouching, production issues, and printing stay on schedule. As a collection, Main Street News now serves as a consistent branding element and integral communication tool for the National Trust.
